There’s a brand-new place for kids and teens to twirl, leap, stretch, and grow right here on Whidbey Island! Kylene’s Space has officially opened its doors, offering a wide range of dance and movement classes designed to encourage creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of movement. From toddlers just learning how to move in a class setting to teens diving deep into advanced ballet, lyrical, and hip-hop styles, there’s something here for every age.

Classes for Every Age and Stage
- Ages 2–5: Little ones can start with No Mommy, Just Me! for 2-year-olds eager to explore movement, or Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet sessions for preschoolers. Families also have the option of a unique Preschool Program, blending early learning with movement, crafts, and play.
- Ages 5–9: Options include Ballet 1, Modern & Lyrical 1, and Jazz & Hip-Hop 1, with Pilates-based Strength & Flexibility classes to build healthy technique. Kids’ $5 Fridays are a fun and affordable way to try new styles.
- Ages 10–14: Dancers can grow with Ballet 2 and Ballet 3, or explore styles like Modern & Lyrical 2, Jazz & Hip-Hop 2, or Pom Dance. Tweens’ $5 Fridays make dance accessible and fun for this age group.
- Teens (14–18): Advanced classes such as Ballet 3 and Ballet 4 challenge older dancers with more complex technique, pre-pointe work, and choreography. Modern & Lyrical 3, Pom Dance, and Strength & Flexibility round out their training, with Teen $5 Fridays giving teens a space to stay connected and creative.
About Kylene
Kylene, the studio’s founder, brings a rich background in both dance and education. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Dance from Central Washington University, where she completed 48 courses in dance, including an anatomy and cadaver lab through the exercise science program. Though she began serious dance training at 16, Kylene has been immersed in movement for much longer - first as an all-star and high school cheerleader in Oak Harbor, and later through experiences in lyrical, ballroom, yoga, wrestling, CrossFit, rock climbing, and even unique dance forms like bellydance, aerial silks, heels choreography, and Latin styles during a study abroad in Costa Rica.
With more than 1,000 hours of teaching experience at local studios and Pilates centers, choreography credits with Meander Dance Collective, and ongoing exploration of movement through workshops and performance, Kylene brings both technical skill and a passion for creativity to the studio. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in encouragement, laughter, and building confidence:
“One of my dreams since graduating college has been to open a dance studio specifically in my hometown to offer a service back to the community I grew up in… My favorite task is to encourage people, young and grown, to explore their inner confidence and self-expression.”
A Community Space for Families
Kylene’s Space isn’t just about dance. It’s about helping kids and families find joy in movement, build confidence, and celebrate growth together. Kylene encourages her students to set personal goals out loud, track progress, and celebrate accomplishments as a community. Whether your child is interested in ballet, jazz, lyrical, pom, or just trying out a fun $5 Friday session, the studio offers a welcoming environment for all.
